At first glance, I parsed that as ‘book soup’. That it tastes like vegetables is an understandable grievance, if he’d been expecting alphabets!! >X^D

Isn’t that what stone soup (nail soup here in Iceland) is supposed to taste like?

I forgot to tell you, strain the pebbles through your teeth…

Of course this is in the time of the troglodyte. There were no vegetarians or vegans. We did not know what vegetables were, other than they were dangerous and could kill you if you ate one. Took us a long time to figure out what plants were safe to eat and what would cause you a Horrifying death. Trial and error with a lot of death. So Rock soup was safe and should not taste like vegetables. Then you could always use the rock to hunt with.

Appreciate her work; you’d be amazed how long you have to cook a rock to get it soft enough to eat…

Try the Stone Soup. It’s at least funny.

They ate whatever they can find. Nuts, insects, berries, carrion etc.
