The irony is that the businesses which executed the trades for the day traders took a cut on each transaction, in both directions. The day traders’ got the evanescent gains, but the middle men got the cash.
And then the Republicans want to bailout Wall Street every time the economy hiccups. In 2008 tens of thousands of Americans were tossed out of their homes while they also were taxed to make sure big banks and Wall Street didn’t suffer loses.
The children, believing they somehow punished hedge funds, are like the male mouse that talked an elephant into having sex. When the cow yelled out as a coconut landed on her head, the randy buck thought his actions were the reason for the cry.

If I had ‘shorted ’Trump’s Casino Stock’ I wonder how much would I be worth today. . . ./S

Epic misrepresentation. Wall Street is NOT like a casino. Casinos are far, far more heavily regulated than Wall Street.

Classic pump and dump. Too bad (not) a hedge fund got caught.

it did seem like the David versus Goliath angle was really played up in the media

Once upon a time hedge funds actually did investment hedging, instead of wild speculation and destruction of real companies.

Well, tell me again, just what, exactly, does your ‘game’ produce? You know, real tangible good for all?
