There are 10 kinds of people in the world — those who understand binary, and those who don’t.

I remember when I learned to count that way, but I wasn’t that young!

Someone teaches how to use a table edge to separate up and down fingers to count to 1023.

He’s not much of a geek if he’s just counting to 1010 on his fingers.

He’ll graduate into full geekdom when he starts getting Christmas and Halloween mixed up.

You are a real geek if you can do it in base 8 or base 3

Is it bad that I counted along with her and laughed. Does anyone learn to count in hex or octal anymore?

When I go and do laps around the track at the gym, I count to 16 on one hand. 16 laps is one mile. I use the other hand to keep track of the miles.

I have to be careful with 11(base 10), or 0100(base 2), because someone might think I’m making a rude gesture.

I feel sorry for her, even if she will make a million dollars by the time she is 18.

Actually, if you use both hands you can count to 1111111111.

Actually, if you designate each finger as a bit, you can count to 1023.

Binary exists because computers are primitive and stupid.

Around 1990 I took a course in 8086 Assembler. The teacher was a retired programmer who began his career in the 1950s. When we got to base conversion he said, “What I do is convert everything to octal. Convert the source number to octal and then convert the octal number to the target base.” He could do it in his head, fast. 8 bit machine words.
