I remember a couple of kids dropped out of school in Jr High. We looked around and hey, suddenly Bill wasn’t there any more. I always wondered how he worked that one out. I could just imagine going to my parents and saying, “Hey mom, dad? I wanna drop out of school.” They would have kept me attending, bandages, casts and all!
Saturday daytime TV (aka cartoons) was the best back in the day and it was an education to see how different it was during the weekday for a kid. Calvin might learn School is more fun…
Instead of informing Mom, you should have just snuck off and joined Peppermint Patty on Snoopy’s doghouse (https://www.gocomics.com/peanuts/2021/03/11?ct=v&cti=2208697)!
In the old days, the best way to convince a kid to go back to school was to let him watch the soap operas on the only broadcast channel available. Even as an adult, I found “Days of our Lives” would get me out of the house faster than anything.
A huge psychological study was conducted involving two teams of children. One team went through the standard educational process for 12 years. The other team simply watched television during normal school hours for 12 years.
When compared, it was alarmingly discovered that the television-raised children (who had watched Sesame Street and similar shows) were better educated overall than the school children, and knew much more about life in general having been exposed to sitcoms and dramas and shows about life— as opposed to sitting in a classroom and being force-fed whatever the educational system decided to teach them.
The same study produced an additional finding that both groups had a tendency to believe anything they read and watched. :D

How times have changed. The rebellion of Calvin then is the reality of the Calvin’s now. It’s end of the world as we knew it. …sad?
