    I seem to remember that there are some countries where a solid appreciative burp is expected after a good meal. Actually, even after a mediocre meal, just to be polite. Calvin was very, very polite.

    When I was in the third or fourth grade, our teacher had to leave the room. While she was gone, one of the boys taught us all to burp at will. Talk about having the ability to do something that no one wants one to do.

    I don’t know if anyone else has brought this up, but I heard once that in Germany, it is rude to not belch after meal, as that insults your host. Not sure if that is true.
