The good thing is that some articles said that just a few days after Twitter took away his account, disinformation on the WHOLE NET went down by 73% (I think. I’m sure it was seventy something). The bad thing is that 25% of the previous week’s disinformation is still an awful lot of lies!

Unfortunately, he’s not “gone”. He’s pushing himself into the divide in the “republican party”, trying to split off a piece of it to become his party. If enough of them leave, maybe real Republicans will return. I’m a Democrat, but I still want to see adults in the major parties.

As long as there’s a dollar to be scammed, we’ll never see the end of Trump. But I’m sure enjoying the break from his idiot nattering.

I fear people don’t get it. There are millions and millions of folks out there who long for a fascist government with a typical, fascist strongman at its head – one who, like them, longs to return to an era that was at once mythological and primitive.

“This country is so unfair! They took away social media and other websites and are laying down indictments. All that happened was that internet companies terms of contact and terms of service that everybody had to agree to were violated left & Right! And so what if after presidential incitement and directions (sometimes literally) by members of Congress there was a riot on the grounds of and actually inside of the United States Capitol Building? And people and a police officer died and many were injured, the hallowed ground of democracy desecrated, members of congress and the Vice President threatened even with death, sedition & insurrection advocated by “patriots” and serving members of congress and even a sitting president, and both Nazi and Confederate flags paraded around while the flag of the United States of America was used as a weapon. It’s so unfair that they got kicked off the internet and prosecuted. They don’t have to apologize! Why the president didn’t even offer sweeping and generalized pardons for them! It’s so unfair. They were just following orders. Don’t you feel bad now? We need to unite!" Oh, we’re united alright. United in wanting to see those people prosecuted for every major crime and misdemeanor they committed before there can be any reconciliation. Out those traitorous SOB’s and then “Out with them!” If someone broke into your house, hurt your family, desecrated your home, and made you feel totally violated would you just wanna give ‘em a big ol’ hug and tell’ em, “There, there. You’ll be alright. It was all my fault. Don’t y’all worry” or would you really want to see them perp walked into court, tried, convicted, and sent off to serve a long sentence? Who wants to see such people get a slap on the wrist, only to start up again as promised right where they left off? Oh no, that price will only go higher if it isn’t punished first. Remember that history has repeatedly shown that to be true already.

Read Clay’s blog on this subject. He was drawing long before Trump became president and hopefully will be continuing on for long after. There will never be a lack of subjects for a political cartoonists to explore.

I remember the same thing being brought up back when Cheney’s sock puppet wandered off. “What will you do now that President Obama isn’t such an incompetent failure?” The whole humor industry found a way.

For this ’toon in particular I recall Clay being prophetic back in Sept:

    https://www.gocomics.com/clayjones/2020/09/03

The treasonweasel sending forth his flying monkeys and let’s face it they are still there.

Back then I asked the commenters to help name those in the ’toon.

    Shall we do it again?

S Kelley- carrying the tiki torch

M Lester with his face between the bison horns

G Varvel carrying the stick with nails through it

Ramirez in the blue cone hat with pom pom on top

H Payne with the dynamite strapped to him

What do the rest of you see?

I, for one, find it rather refreshing that most news items coming out of Washington these days doesn’t have to be followed by three or more items fact-checking the first. (And I’m extremely glad those election ads are over for at least 18 months.)

To say that cartoonists will struggle for topics to draw is like saying the earth is running out of oxygen. Won’t happen. For those that need a Trump fix they can click over to any ultra far right wing nut job channel for the latest Trump scam, lie, grift, racist, unamerican rant. I’m waiting for the 60 minutes prison interview by leslie Stahl.

I beg to differ. The crisis, plural, left behind he-who-shall-not-be-named offers a miasma of death and of political hypocrisy. Mitch McConnell alone offers a special stench of his own for the latter.

There’s going to be a lot of comedy. Watching those that committed treason at the Capital come up with excuses for committing sedition. Crying about being held accountable for their crimes and how prison sentences will ruin their lives. Things that they should have given more thought before trying to overthrow the American Government. Committing their crimes openly in the most sacred place of our democracy the Capital Building.

Then there will be the comedy that comes from the Republican politicians that try to dance around supporting the traitors, but pretending they don’t support treason.

In reality, we may have a little more diversity in cartooning. Another good thing about his leaving. Same as not seeing TRUMP blasting out in the headlines every bloody day. Bliss!
