Or they just ultimately fail to ever take sufficient control of the levers of government/society to establish their caliphate — sorry, I meant to write Conservative Purity Values Empire, not ‘caliphate’ (my apologies, Daesh) — and their movement loses too much steam to continue to be a significant hindrance to the human evolutionary process.
Well, maybe for a generation or two. Tops. Possibly. I know, I know. Doubtful they’ll stay down for longer than a decade. If that.
But then there is this: human history is multiple millennia of non-stop conservatism unable to suppress the human capacity to achieve progress; a 20th (calendar) century of 4 decades of USA Progressivism (even longer in Canada, New Zealand, places in Europe, where it still prevails), supplanted in 1980 and returned to reactionary conservatism; the possibility that progressivism in the USA can again rise, perhaps even to a point where it is a force powerful enough to regulate hoarding capitalist doctrine and restore some semblance of economic equanimity in this country.
