Do you know why people say things twice when speaking to a cat? Do you know why people say things twice when speaking to a cat? Cats don’t listen .
My cat pays far more attention to my actions. Telling her she is about to get the egg yolk from my “sunny side up” means nothing to her until the tiny saucer of yellow goo appears. Same for going for walks. She has long ago learned to disregard my preparatory comments, as they can be followed by five minutes of various delays. Once I have my shoes on, she is ready to go.
I can always tell when my wife is talking to the animals, because of baby voice. If she’s scolding them, however, she uses the same voice she uses with me.

I’ve often put out the theory that some people keep pets specifically as an excuse to talk “babytalk”.

Cats have 32 ear muscles, which allow them to ignore us efficiently.
