I think I’m beginning to figure out the challenge Mamet has with young ladies, he sets the bar too low. If one goes into a date with the hopes of ending it on a handshake, no progress will ever be made. It will lead to disappointment, and to Mamet giving the old “It isn’t me, it’s ewe” speech. If I were Mamet I wouldn’t worry about the lady’s feelings. If she’s desperate enough to go out with you her standards are low anyway.
