A better idea would be to reprogram the scale to say the opposite of what is true.

I remember a Garfield comic episode, where he smashes the talking scales, because his weight was like a battleship.

I weigh myself every few months. Weight fluctuates on a daily basis when you’re trying to lose so it can be discouraging and demotivating some days. But when I see the numbers fall with this method, it makes me feel like I’m making progress (I was 275 mid-2020 and I’m 240 now. My goal is to hit 210 before the year is out).

Why do you need batteries? I have a mechanical scale. All I want to know is how much I weigh, not how much my bones weigh, and how much fluid I retain, or when my birthday is or what the weather will be like.

Our scale only goes up to about ten pounds, it’s great for measuring ingredients. As for our body weight, we don’t know, don’t care. We can tell if we’re packing on pounds and we alter our intake accordingly. Our weights, according to our Dr., have remained fairly constant over the past 30 years.

You really had us going there, Garfield. I don’t know why you didn’t think of that before in the first place to keep the scale from insulting you about your weight.
