Among other things, the Karen people are kind of like the Kurds of Southeast Asia: widely dispersed thruout the region, but an ethnic minority (often a persecuted one) in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar. But of course it’s perfectly OK to disparage ethnic minorities as long as they’re not your own, right?

Stop calling them “Karens”. I know a few Karens and they are nice people who are really put out by people maligning them for no apparent reason.
I suggest "Ivanka"s instead. It’s more fitting.
