I usually like to say that I choose to live where the snow shovels itself (because it stays liquid all the way down). But today, we had what may be our one snowfall of the year: About 3 or 4 inches, but the temperature never got below 32º F.

We had our first snow of this winter last weekend, but it fell during the evening and night and by morning the streets were clear of snow already. Only snow left was in the gardens and fields a bit. Can’t remember when I last had to shovel snow, it’s been many years ago.

I liked working alongside adults! They’ll show you how and they can’t fire you.

The house we lived in when I was going to grade school was in the town. Even with the snow we got in central PA, we just put on our boots and walked to school.

This is like a Multiple Choice Question: Hmmm, Maybe I’ll choose: “D. All of the Above”.

The chore probably takes longer with Caulfield helping.

@cervelo but probably more enjoyable to both of them. Been my experience, that, except in specific tasks where working alone is best, working with a friend usually lightens the load. Sure, takes longer, but yarning while leaning is good exercise.

How many schools allow the students to shovel snow alongside the janitor? Aren’t they opening themselves up to liability if Caulfield slips on the ice and injures himself? Seriously, Frazz has a paid job, the kids don’t, and they shouldn’t be volunteering to work alongside him while he does it.

They missed the real reason: at home, it’s a chore he’s told to do.

All the gratification without any of the aching.
