I give you the latest example of the “logic” employed by members of the Trumpian persuasion. Trumpians who engineered and executed the Wednesday assault on the nation’s capitol have been extolling the success of their attack on the bastion of America’s seat of democracy and crowing about how it all went according to plan while at the same time trying to blame the assault on members of Antifa!stinal If we are to accept them at their word – it means that Trumpers are members of Antifa.
I think they’re a bit confused about who they (and, by extension, Trump) support!
Which makes a certain sense, I guess – because the ONLY THING they can see with ANY CLARITY is the presence or absence of gastrointestinal polyps.
The villagers with pitchforks and torches didn’t have Trump to say there were good people on both sides. But the villagers weren’t chanting “Jews Will Not Replace Us” either. The name of the monster was Peter Boyle as I recall. . . . . /S

It has just been allowed to rear and bellow and destroy at will, all the while pointing a finger at everyone else. A reasonable diagnosis might be unbridled temperament, but then the word reasonable has never applied to anything about it.
This is what I have been saying all along. I really don’t have much problem with Trump. He is an emotionally disturbed and delusional individual. He doesn’t know any better.
Nor do I have much of an issue with his followers. They are for the most part ignorant (albeit in most cases deliberately so) and they live in fear and paranoia. They believe what their handlers (the Great Enablers. FOX News or what they hear from the pulpit) tell them.
I put the blame squarely on the “Great Enablers:” the Republican Elected officials. They are the ones who created this monster. They are the ones who put him in power in 2016. They are the ones who supported his every immoral or unethical decision. They are the ones who ramrodded his nominations through to the courts. They are the ones who kissed his ass for 4 years with undying praise. They are the ones who supported his attempt to overthrow the results of a valid election even giving them standing ovations. They are the ones who repeated the lies Trump told and thereby give them validity. They are the ones who stood by him during the impeachment. They are the ones who put spin on his “misstatements” to make them look presentable. They are the ones polishing the Trump Turd. They are the ones putting lipstick on the Trump pig. They are the ones who piled the logs on the bonfire for Trump to ignite on Wednesday’s riot.
They are the ones who made Trump, Trump over the past 4 years. Now only in recent days or hours do some of them regret their actions only because it might cost them their reelection. Too little, Too late.
You know, in the 1930s the reactionary Nazis got their inroad to power by convincing the German conservatives to permit them into the conservative tent. Of course, once they got enough power they turned on the conservatives, too. The current batch of U.S. reactionaries has been using the U.S. conservatives in the exact same way, and the conservatives fell for it, hook, line, and sinker for years. Lindsey Graham acknowledged his start of awakening the other day when we got far too close to an insurgent mob destroying one of the pillars of democracy, the legislature (which has already surrendered far too much of its power to the current imperial president who created many EOs that he did NOT have the Constitutional power to create since they usurped the powers of the legislature and of the states). Thankfully, unlike Germany back then, the legislature did not give up to dictatorship, though a few reactionaries in Congress still tried to fold democracy, and one (Hawley) even saluted the insurgent mob.
As to Trump using the mob for his own profit (for which he should be punished to the full extent of the law): You can’t spell “sedition” without i d i o t s.
I see where Trump is dumping on Pence, calling him a coward and taking him to task for not illegally and unilaterally overthrowing the results of the election. This is after Pence’s 4 years of unwavering support and loyalty. Sen. Inhofe of Oklahoma said that he never saw Pence so angry.
Careful Donnie, don’t bite the hand that feeds you. Pence is the one who can invoke the 25th Amendment.

Frankenstein is the name of the Monster’s creator, not the monster itself. I say this only because very few have taken the trouble to wade through Mary Shelley’s novel, while everybody knows the movie version(s). As Stephen King notes in _Danse Macabre, more movies have been based on Shelley’s book than on almost any other literary source, including The Bible. King also notes that the novel “is a rather slow and talky melodrama, its themes drawn in large, careful, and rather crude strokes . . . the way a bright but naïve debate student might develop his line of argument.”

It is time for moderates and actual conservatives to take the Republican Party back from the reactionaries, legally depose them from their positions of power all over our nation, and for the leadership of both parties to make sure that they can not infiltrate a major U.S. political party ever again.

Also, it is essential to remember how recently Trump fired so many high level military and security experts and replaced them with his boot lickers. Was that timed?
Another question that arose today that is related to some Capitol Police high-fiving the insurgents, their beforehand refusal of help from the National Guard, and their understaffing for the 6th: why had they locked away the hoses used for spraying cold water on those who break through the barriers?

Where are his worshipers going to go to get their “fix” now? Maybe they can go to the archives for the “Best of Trump.” Maybe the can get it once a week, sitting in a pew.
Many people have speculated on a suitable punishment for Trump. Mine was banishment to “some island in the Pacific” without a golf course, Big Macs, internet or Fox news. Taking away his Twitter account is a step in the right direction.
The one place I do not want to be for the next 12 days is in the White House. I bet things are very happy there now.
