One of the advantages of age: I recognize those dreams almost as soon as my consciousness gets up to 75% or so. One of the disadvantages: That’s twice per night!

For those of us over 50, I learned something that stopped me getting up like this every 90 min or so throughout the night: wear knee-high support stockings during the day. Helps the circulation so you don’t accumulate fluid in your legs, which is easier for your body to process when you’re lying horizontal all night. Not recommended for those with hypertension though.

I’m way over 50, and I recommend walking at least a mile a day, and two miles would be better. It is relaxing for everybody, but much more so for the hypertensive. It improves the circulation, clears the lungs, and improves your mood. As for the other, my doctor prescribed Tamsulosin, and it works very well.

Fun fact. When I was a young man, old men who leaked or seeped wore condoms to keep dry. The drugstore was the only place to buy condoms. I bought them for a couple of old men who were too embarrassed to buy them.

I’ll have dreams that start of very normal, like in a store or something, and I’ll start looking for the rest room. When I find it, it’s either broken or so filthy I don’t want to use it, or something — and THAT’S when I wake up! (so far!)

Water dreams are definitely your unconscious brain’s attempt to communicate. I honestly don’t know what those “dropping feathers in a vacuum” dreams mean but I will keep asking. :)

Yes, the nightmare calling. Who hasn’t had one of those?

Even though we are in the over-fifty crowd (by a couple of decades), exercise seems to keep the nocturnal visits to a minimum. We use walking, running, dancing, sit-ups, stretching, tumbling, push-ups, leg lifts, hand-stands, a stand-up desk, etc, to keep things working. It all seems to help.

My doctor prescribed me a little (Not blue but similar in function) pill that cut that problem down to once or twice a night at most. Also has more fun side effects for one my age. Best of all, insurance covers it!
