If at first you don’t succeed, your wishing on the wrong star.

I like that Fritzi knows what Nancy is looking at without taking her eyes off her book.

Evidently, Nancy’s previous misguided efforts is why 2020 went SO wrong.

So Nancy gives upon the wishing-star approach and says, “Well, I hope to Goodness…”

Sluggo: “I don’t think hoping to Goodness is theologically sound.”

It’s wrong to wish on space hardware.

I saw two shooting stars last night / I wished on them / But they were only satellites / It’s wrong to wish on space hardware / I wish, I wish, I wish you cared…

If that is Venus, then she’d be an early riser since Venus rises today around 6:30 AM. Just before sunrise. So instead of wishing on the first star that night she’d be instead looking at the last star to be seen before sunrise. I don’t think wishes work that way.

She’s wishing in … their upstairs living room?

And to think stargazers were once worried only about light pollution…

Nancy repeatedly wrong about something? Impossible! : )

I remember a variation on this gag as far back as the 70s -

Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight

I wish I may, I wish I might

Oh drat, its a satellite

I feel like Jerry Scott did a strip like this during his run on Nancy, but he didn’t expand on it like this one.

If my wishes come true, there’s gonna be trouble.
