This “snow” business is something that we in the Phoenix, AZ metro area do not have to worry about.;-D

Thanks to global warming, climate change, it has been ages since we had a snow like that here in Denver.

March 2003 was one of those years – where we had 100% of our precipitation for the year – on one day. And it was dry for at least 400 days on either side of that date. (Year 2002 was the famous Heyman Fire, right after the Schuhmacher Fire) (But what the hey – anymore these days, each year is another record breaker for fires – in Colorado and pretty much the entire west)

But skiers, don’t worry. They have snowmaking machines up there.

Got to keep the Ischgl’s busy.

Winter weather in the PNW is either cold (near freezing) and clear or warmer and drizzly. Once every few years it’s cold and the drizzle becomes snow. And people jump in their monster trucks and SUVs, which have magical 4×4 drive trains, and find out once again that the magic does not extend to braking.

Back in Jr,High (which was in the sixties) We had a boy from Mississippi, move to our Cleveland, OH area suburban school. Come fall he kept asking us when it was going to snow, wasn’t it cold enough,to snow.“I never saw snow…..I can’t wait to see snow” Well…. the first decent snowfall, at days end, we had the buses waiting out in front of the school. By the time he came toward them, there must have been close to 100 of us armed with snow balls. We gently gave him SNOW !

It’s all about what you get used to. I grew up in the suburbs south of Chicago and learned to hate snow. You ain’t lived until you’ve had to shovel the results of a lake effect blizzard from the driveway. As an adult I’ve lived all over the world and, if I could afford it, I would land in Hawai’i and stay there (I lived there for three years and really liked it a lot!).
