You could have given it to her on Jan 6th!

Nothing wrong with being a “Just Because” gift.

Been there, but it’s the Christmas, Easter, Anniversary, Sweetest Day, and, of course, Birthday cards with me. Over the decades I have left several of each hidden in a drawer somewhere, just waiting for that calendar to roll around again.

He could have blamed the Post Office. One of the gifts my wife ordered for me arrived on the 26th. And we are still waiting for something for our daughter. And the package I mailed (priority mail) on the 16th still hasn’t been delivered. In fact it was MIS (missing in shipping) until Saturday when I finally saw a tracking update. The first since it said it had left my PO.

The twelve days of Christmas are not over yet. It used to be a tradition to give a gift on each day (remember the song?).

One Christmas my mother forgot about the croquet set she had hid so well in the basement. One of us kids discovered it in the Summer, just the right weather to start using it. We all got a good laugh over that, & she was embarrassed.

I once found a leftover xmas prezzie in the back of a closet… in June. It wasn’t that fantastic but getting it in June was an absolute hoot.

Today is twixt day at our house: the day betwixt my wife’s birthday (12/28) and mine (30th) so we are handing each other presents pretty much the entire week from Xmas to NYD.

Wise to do it for the winter time when it will be better appreciated. However, how about turning up the furnace and giving her a very sheer negligee. A gift that the whole family can enjoy……

There’s that scene in Christmas Vacation where Chevy Chase climbs in the attic to hide his wife’s Christmas present in the snug of a rafter . . . and finds last year’s Christmas present there.

Sent my Filipina niece-in-law some Wyoming-grown alpaca gloves and hat for her first Christmas in Illinois.

I so relate to this. I wore a pair of knit bison-fiber gloves at Thanksgiving in Alaska a year ago and my hands stayed warm chipping thick ice off a windshield—they are amazing. So during a sale a few months ago I ordered a pair for my 90-year-old mom, who likes to take a mile-long brisk walk every day and who lives where it snows. Do I remember where I stashed them away? I do not. Did I find them while tearing the closet apart? I did not.

My daughter hid a gift for her sister in a drawer…two years ago. This year it finally got to be a Christmas present.

My Mother used to do that all the time. After she died, I found a gift with my name on it stuck deep in a drawer. No telling how long it had been there.

My mother’s Russian Orthodox, and they traditionally observe Christmas on January 7th. So if gifts were found just a wee bit after December 25th, Russian Christmas presents!
