First year in college, a guy in our dorm suite was named Albert Sidney Smith. When monogrammed sweaters were in vogue… he didn’t wear one.

I’m not a big fan of that abbreviation. I hate that word and seeing it used so often gets tiring

At one point my daughter realized kids teased each other over their initials. She had me Google to make sure hers didn’t spell anything bad. She thought it was pretty cool that SBB was a train line in Europe.

My dad, a retired medical doctor, has the initials DOA. Dead On Arrival. He even had them monogrammed onto his medical bag. My mom’s initials are MIA, Missing In Action.

“Olivet Maxine Glover-Franklin” …Most married women I know ..have their maiden name first, then hyphenate the husband’s name last… but I do get the joke. ;^)

Parents really need to watch out for that kind of thing when naming their kids, and think of the poor kid having to spend a life with it.

I think my father’s side of the family likes to pass down family names. His name is Thomas Anderson McCoy IV, and he named me after his mother – Marietta Mary McCoy. I’ve no doubt that if I had been a boy, I’d be the V.

Most people use their child’s middle name when their mad at them, but my uncles called me Marietta Mary strictly for the fun of it.

I guess this is the modern version of these golden oldies:

“If Tuesday Weld married Frederic March the 2nd, she’d be Tuesday March the 2nd.”

“If Ella Fitzgerald married Darth Vader, she’d be Ella Vader.”

    And so on . . .

Frederick Ulysses Kennedy. I used that as a fake name while visiting foreign ports during my Navy days. Now, I use “Chuck Finley”; no interesting acronym but it has mass appeal.
