So, does not traveling make me noble? I’ll claim that even though I don’t travel because I can’t afford it and don’t really have anywhere to go. Besides, my wife tells me all the time that “You’re an ‘effin’ prince!”
Because the government, thank god, lacks the power. Who do you suggest should do this, Ted? Trump? Don’t make me laugh.
I guess he COULD close the airports and railroad stations. How is he going to shut down the interstates? The military? Because that’s what it would take.
So, instead, we impose mostly voluntary restrictions on travelors. And we deal with it, as best we can.
I wanted to see the grandkids, but it’s not worth the risk for any of us. I would have driven though, haven’t flown since last February and that was when we first started “keeping our distance”, but no mask mandate yet. I recall seeking out a remote corner to sit out my layover at Seatac. I rationalize the driving would expose me to far fewer people. Logically though, it only takes one.
What is the uniform worn by the man in the toon collecting tickets from passengers who’ve bought them elsewhere inside the facility (or at an online site)?
I ask because if it is a bus/train/airline employee I find it hard to believe that the bus/train/airline company did not inform the passenger at the point of purchase about all the conditions which come with the ticket they buy. No, check that. I find it impossible to believe this stupid lecture would be given by a bus/train/airline company to any passenger unless there was a legal mandate to do so.
So then, is the person collecting tickets a go&%$#ed GUMBINT agent, from a f@$&*#g federal agency, which has taken over daily operations of public transit carriers? Liberalism! Fascism!! Communism!!! Liberal fascist commie thugugugugugism!!!! At its worst!!!!! Our FREEDOM stolen right from under our noses!!!!!! By our very own $h!th0Ie GUBMINT!!!!!!!
And to think it was done by the tRump administration!!!!!!!!
Should have saved this toon for the Biden presidency, Ted. Hell, the “content” of it would map to reality then exactly the same then as it maps to reality now.
Social shaming? That’s uncalled for. Mandatory testing, quarantine, and contact tracing? Go for it.
We can’t ban travel outright, because some people will NEED to travel. If travel is allowed for those who NEED it, we might as well allow it for those who WANT it. But both those who NEED to travel and those who WANT to travel will have some extra hoops to jump through for the time being.
Isn’t it apparent that “leaving those choices to the responsible citizens” is a monumental failure? If you act like a spoiled child, don’t be surprised if you’re treated like one.
Funny how the MSM is barely reporting on the side affects of the economy shutdown. We are seeing a large surge in addictions and the accompanying O.D. deaths. Poverty rates have went way up, and heart attacks and strokes have increased. Down here in Florida we have good rules in place and businesses are still open. If you wish to isolate you can, groceries delivered and social media is available.
BWAWHAWHAWHAW! It’s funny, Theodore because your total commentary on the pandemic has been about everyone but the person who is most responsible for the death of 300,000 Americans and counting! Trump has now killed a population that surpasses that of the City of St. Louis.

Why ban travel? If you NEED to be there, then you plan around the two week quarantine and do it.
(having a hard time not LOLing about expecting many US citizens to actually be thoughtful about other people’s needs)

Banning travel would cut into the bonuses trump supports are expecting.

The cut back in travel and capitalism in general is helping the environment to heal.
