Christmas has been over for awhile but there’s still winter to enjoy.

Warm tummies: We watched a special on cats several years ago. One of the cats lived in a blacksmith shop, and had found a way to get directly above the furnace. The cat had just come in from outside and was damp. We watched him walk across the tie-joist and lie down, where he began to steam. I could sure understand…

Some of the most popular videos on Youtube are fireplaces. There’s something primal about them. The better made videos make you almost feel the warmth and smell the smoke.

Life can’t get any better……

That’s a warm, fuzzy feeling if I ever saw one!

If you’re ever in the position where you need a fire but can’t have one, a bowl of Rice Krispies can be your alternate source of snaps and crackles. Pops, too, no extra charge.

Last year the kids got us a gas fire pit so we could sit out in the fall and enjoy beer o’clock longer. That’s me and Tucker (aka ET) in my avatar enjoying beer o’clock in late October

This is what makes Calvin and Hobbes great: the small moments of quiet goodness amidst the crazy life of the child. Genius!

Either the rerun dates are out of order or this strip originally aired a lot later than I thought it did.

When I was Calvin’s age, I did just as he is doing now, with a pile of comic books in front of the fireplace. Very comforting.

speaking of fires… I saw a Pinto on a rerun of a classic television show the other evening.

Happiness is a warm fire on a cold day, a mug of ale, a comfortable seat, and a good book.

what has gotten into Calvin today! he is showing us his “normal” side that he doesn’t want others to see.

“But Mom, if you’d only get me that flamethrower, I could curl up in front of the fire ALL THE TIME and you wouldn’t have to keep lighting one for me!”

Hot tiger tummy? No. Warm tiger tummy? Yes.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t ever put my head on a tiger’s tummy.

I can’t say I agree with Calvin. The last time I tried cuddling up on a hot tiger’s tummy didn’t turn out very well.

What? What is this Calvin being good? This must be a fake cartoon!

We moved further South, and bought a house with a fireplace, lol.

Life is better around a campfire

No tigers, but cats are an excellent source of body heat!

Ahhh. The good ol’days. With only a fireplace for heat, you have one warm side and a cold side.As long as someone else is hauling ashes and cutting wood.Been there. Done that.

I’m confused about how Dad hasn’t gotten so angry at Calvin that he turned Hobbes into a tiger-skin rug.
