Take away the whiskers, and the fish salesman almost looks like Blanche.

And my response to the frog’s comment is, “You don’t.”

The scales on the balance of his retail ability leaves one wondering how he will fin-ish the day and pay for is spot in the fish-market.

At our minor league baseball park, the solitary vendor would come through in the first three innings , calling “cold BEER!” In the middle three, it was “cool BEER!” In the last three, it was “BEER!” I never was there for a game that went into extra innings, but I always wondered if it would be “warm BEER!”

There is an expression in the food business, “Sell it or smell it”.

Never eat at a sushi restaurant that is next door to a bait shop.

Near where I grew up, there were two adjacent shops. One was a sushi restaurant, one sold bait. Honest.

Underwear is believed to have been invented in the 13th century. Before that, we had loincloths. In warmer climates the loincloth was often the only clothing worn. But mostly by men, to prevent damage to, low hanging fruit.

They did: they were called braies. They were typically made of linen, tucked into the hosen and generally had a drawstring closure. Usually a bit longer than the average boxer short today, often going just past mid-thigh, although some variants were more like “tighty whiteys” only “blousier”. Then there was the codpiece… Speaking of rotten fish…well, let’s not and just say that they were popular among those being treated for a particularly foul STD.
