Thank goodness for his magical knife that stays sharp enough to kill a lion even after digging through thick stone for hours.

And why use em bow and arrows when you’ve got a knife, right?

In the dungeon, the mighty dungeon, the lions leap tonight….

OK Roden, time to see what you can do with that spear.

Sadly, the lions were starving so much that they didn’t have the energy to kill Tarzan and Roden and were quickly subdued.

The knife. The knife. Use the knife! It’s like he heard me from here!

And yet another battle commences in which Tarzan will wrestle with and then kill a big cat and emerge with not a scratch. I’d say ERB never made the mistake of petting a pet cat who didn’t want to be petted.

Tarzan: “Dang! Shoulda had Roden dig a pit!”

I am utterly shocked by this development.

Could have earlier shot the 2 lions through the bars with no risk…but nooooo

I feel a little better since Roden has his protective headgear. It looks like all safety precautions have been met for a sanctioned match.

Tarzan vs. lion! You can’t go wrong with the classics!

Tarzan does not prepare to fight for his life, he “moved in for the kill”. The lion said I guess so, I can’t close my #*&%x mouth with these #*&%x teeth.

Two freshly killed Saber-Toothed Lions to add to the wedding feast menu, eh?

Everyone laughs about the Magic Knife appearing and disappearing at will. In the first panel the bow and arrows are visible, but are missing in the second panel while the Magic Knife has miraculously shown up. It must be that Tarzan only has one weapon. It can manifest as a bow/arrows or knife, whichever he needs/wants at the moment.
