Multi TV households are starting to age out. I dunno if MOST people have one giant screen and personal screens, but certainly a lot of them do. Except the ones who have only the personal screens.

If by personal screens you mean pda’s, ipads, etc, then we don’t own any. Two actual table top tv’s is it. Suits us just fine.

On the other side of that, I used take lots of photos [with an actual camera], which I refined using graphic software. They were emailed to family and friends who used at least letter sized pc monitors. Put a lot work in the end product. Once I found most were seeing them as only mini-photos on their phones, I just stopped sending, except when I snail-mail homemade greeting cards and family updates. Why waste the time for thumbnails. Like touring the National Gallery of Art by cell phone. Yeck.

And, to complete my fall from grace, when family or others get excited about showing me their latest pics, I lose interest after their first dozen swipes across minuscule screens trying to find the elusive great shot of . . . ?

Yep, I know. When it comes to what passes for modern technological advances, I’m a Luddite. But, that’s just me and I’m good with it.

what is with all the references of grandparents being frail. At that kid’s age the Grands should still be pretty active!

Another sign of modern day affluence are large single family homes with more toilets than butts. When I was a lad, there was one washroom, it was also the only door that locked in the whole house, so it was used a lot as a refuge station for younger siblings running away from older ones.

I don’t understand why Frazz is “embarrassed.” It makes perfect sense for those whose nests have been empty for a while to move to smaller quarters and save money on taxes and maintenance. Or am I missing an important nuance here?

On another subject entirely, memory brings me to this.

On this date in 1940, I had just celebrated my 6th birthday. Not much as birthdays go, but by Dec. 1946 I had learned a lot about the world as it affected the families in my neighborhood. Families were missing members, veterans were neighbors who returned changed in a way I could not comprehend.

Over the years the true import of this date and the events it triggered have been replayed in all kinds of locations and for all kinds of reasons. But one thing has never changed. Whenever the drums and horns sound the alarm, there are men and women who answer the call, and there are families who pray they are still complete when the danger has passed.

Thanks and prayers for the fallen, the injured, the emotionally scarred, the missing in action, and for their families.

    Lest we forget.

Or they realized they no longer move from room to room so they don’t need as many as they used to.

My current home has a cable outlet in every room but the bathrooms. So I’m guessing the previous owners watched even more TV than I do. I only have one TV in the living room (using an over the air antenna and streaming).

…though I do make up for it by having multiple computers running all the time 8^)
