Back when I was dating, Rubenesque was a synonym for obese.

Rubenesque – a classical way of telling a lady she shouldn’t have eaten those last twenty donuts.

She just wasn’t enough of a rube.

I was hoping for at least a week or two of flashbacks in this storyline, with contributions from guest artists like Mike Manley or even Bill Hinds. ;-)

Nerd time. Here we go.

It is now hard to believe, but, many years ago, being overweight (by today’s standards) was a sign of wealth. One who was overweight could afford food whereas the poor could not.

And, because money and power are desirable, those who were overweight were also desirable.

Back in the late 1800s, corpulent people were the body type everyone wanted as it showed you were able to provide. Skinny folk were poor and underfed.

Rubens must have complained! ;o]

I recall a series that Jimmy ran quite a few years ago about Janis and her wanting to major in art, a desire that her dad forbade.

Perhaps modeling was her attempt to feel a little bit of what her dream would have brought her.

Yesterday, Janis said “…in the nude.” That phrase has always amused me because one who is nude is not in anything.

Afflicted with “bee stings”.

That used to be the style. Actually the more curvy body might be necessary to test the artist skills……

A brief survey indicates no shortage of viable candidates in North America today.

It’s the curves that are most dangerous.

The Artist loss, Arlo’s gain. Don’t think Janis could have found anyone more appreciative of her figure.

Same thing happened to me, Janis. Painting instructor passed me by because I wasn’t “fleshy” enough. Glory days!
