if you pick the rice out of rice pudding, with what are you left? just the milk?

Alice should just double down on the plates!

My kids used the small plates for their dinner, and then the dinner plates for dessert. I figured, why not, it’s not like they get the opportunity every day….. of course, this is nearly 30 years ago. :D

A table full of pies, cakes, and cookies, and he selects rice pudding? Even knowing that it’s Petey, and even without picking out the rice, that’s just sad.

Petey’s highly aware of what his swimmer’s body requires.

“Swimmers body”? Petey swims only in the Sea o’ Pathos!

They could be waiting till next thanksgiving before Petey is ready.

Alas, Dessert Tables are no more. :(

Going to a restaurant was always a bit of a challenge. My relationship with food was not quite as toxic as Petey’s, but… Once, Mom and Dad took us to a fancy Chinese restaurant. It was all decorated in rich red and gold, the lighting was subdued, very soft music was playing in that weird 5 note scale that I always liked. This was much to my liking except, there was nothing on the menu that I could eat. Everyone else had ordered, and it was my turn. The Chinese lady was waiting patiently. I carefully read the descriptions of each dish. At long last, I came to one that said “Chicken, Rice and Oranges.” Well, I liked all those, maybe it would do. When we were served, my heart melted. It was all covered in yellow goop. I carefully picked away the goopy surface of the rice and found some ungooped, but I must have gotten a little in spite of my efforts. I was not ready! The startle of that yellow deliciousness knocked me off my chair! This was a major scene, Mom was in a panic, my sisters were laughing, Dad was picking me up the kind Chinese people were mortified. I got back into my seat, and a little better prepared, I took a bit of the chicken and yellow goop. To this day, if someone suggest Chinese, I’m ALL FOR IT! If I’m cooking for myself, it’s often Chinese.

Must not be any cinnamon on Petey’s rice pudding. Or raisins.

That kid needs a shrink before malnutrition sets in.

I’m with you Alice, stupid small plates…

2 words: vanilla pudding. (And don’t even think of setting out tapioca!)

The only way I know I’ve eaten enough is when they have to roll me to the car…

Alice is working hard on getting a tummyache. Petey (My Hero!) is working hard on giving us all a headache….

Gosh Alice, that’s the same thing I say at Thanksgiving buffets. Next time grab a dinner plate.
