I’ve always been skeptical when they claim they detected certain gases at a planet so far away.

Did some calculations – at its closest, Saturn’s rings appears from Earth as having a diameter of 35.4" (35.4 seconds) of arc. If we were viewing J1407b (the designator “J14078” is erroneous) from the same distance it would have an appearance of 21,240" of arc. Earth’s moon when full has an apparent arc of approximately 0.5 degrees (1800") of arc; J1407b would appear to have about 5.9 degrees of arc (almost 12 times larger.) So yes, J1407b would be a spectacular sight in our sky.

Closer to home there is the asteroid Psyche worth $10,000 quadrillion. If it were to be mined the price of metals on earth would plunge.

“There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.” Douglas Adams.

One would think that if our umbrella-toting friend (maybe it’s a “Totes”!) knew of the existence of Wasp-76B, he (she? It?) would have been at least somewhat aware of the surface conditions before moving

A lot of “mays”. Why is that scientists or science journalists talk to the public about possibilities and probabilities as facts?

Sad but True: If he brings back that many diamonds, the price will either drop to $1 per diamond or the Diamond Cartel will have him Assassinated and the diamonds will join all the rest in their vaults in order to keep the price up.
