Joe is hardly radical and does not say he is stopping fracking. Rather, he said he would ban it on federal lands. Which doesn’t affect Pennsylvania in the least. Though I wish all fracking were banned.
Same was said about logging in the northwest during the “spotted owl” closures, only to find out after all that heavily subsidized destruction of the environment, the unemployment caused by requiring more sustainable forest management quickly bounced back. Far more damage to middle class income was done by the three major recessions caused by GOP tax cut for the rich, and the deregulation of industries. Counter intuitive, but that’s American Capitalism for you.
Scientists told us for years that using fossil fuels would lead to record heat and cold, large increases in hurricanes and violent storms, uncontrolled fires, and new diseases We are there Clean energy fuels are growing. Instead of clinging to the old, reach out to the new.
Again, when your guy has nothing, make crap up about the other guy. Biden said he wouldn’t get rid of the jobs, they would attrition out as newer energy jobs took over the market.
Deciding how to vote for pres by taking one statement out of context is like condemning an apple orchard for one bad apple. Just isn’t even reasonable.
Sure.. fracking equals jobs.. and a considerable environmental cost. A classic case of “Not in my back yard” happening here. The “locals” are not as enthusiastic about fracking as Gary would like us to believe.
I can’t see the “revelation” making any difference. People in PA who depend on fracking for their jobs are those most likely to have paid attention to Joe’s comments and positions during the last year or so.
It will come as no surprise, and I expect those folks made up their minds months ago.
It’s fun to watch you all work yourself into a lather over a couple simple facts.
1. Fracking = Jobs.
2. People whose jobs are directly dependent on fracking are very likely not going to vote for Joe. Even if they come from traditional blue collar Dem/Labor backgrounds.
Why do these simple truths cause your heads to explode? Varvel isn’t taking a position. He is stating FACTS.
He did say that at most he would require fracking operations to work in such as way as to prevent poisoning water tables and “mini” earthquakes.
Meanwhile, in one of my few lapses into whataboutism, Mango Mistake has opened Alaska’s Tsongas National Park to logging. Note that this is WHILE logging in areas where it’s already allowed is dropping because of economic forces.
^ @Andylit — Nope … It is what it is. Varvel has every right to “stump” for #45, even when he distorts a message. That’s a major reason for the “Comment” device of GoComics, isn’t it?
Here in the real world renewable energy creates more jobs than fossil fuels, but that doesn’t sound good for the fossil fuel billionaires, so let’s tell people they have to choose between pollution and unemployment!
