If it wasn’t for “spice” pumpkin wouldn’t have any taste at all. It just serves as a suspension to put tasty stuff into so you can drink, or eat, it more easily. Kind of like Starbucks coffee.

I don’t get the fuzz about pumpkin spice lattes. I tried it a couple of years ago and really not a fan. :-/
