But you have to give Pastis credit: Deliberately leaving out the name of the politician (since Trump followers are convinced it’s pretty much everyone else in the world, certainly not Trump’s fault).

Do Canadians blame Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for their [October] Thanksgiving for being like this?

Zoom’s big advantage is the mute button. But until it gets a “nice warm hug” function, I’m not going to prefer it. Not to mention our daughter’s homemade jam and the tasty Philippine style goodies from her brother and his wife.

Being an introvert with no immediate family other than my man, Covid has actually enhanced my life to a given degree. Less demand for social involvement, less un-necessary interaction, more time spent at home with the ones I truly love, and that love me : ) I know it is the total opposite for so many, truly sorry for those that suffer in solitude and isolation, especially around the holidays that are so family oriented.

Pig is very grateful for the technology to shut down his angry uncle. Probably easier than giving the uncle more of his preferred adult beverage. Happy Thanksgiving, Stephan Pastis.

It is invalid to claim that we can not blame Trump for any disease outside of the United States. He disbanded the White House team that was designed to contain the disease at it’s source. After that, the virus was totally disinterested in borders, and wandered around as aimlessly, but much more effectively than Trump does.Trump says that “No one could have seen this coming” referring to the pandemic. Well, someone did.In December 2014, Obama warned the United States:“There may and likely will come a time in which we have both an airborne disease that is deadly,” Obama said. “And in order for us to deal with that effectively, we have to put in place an infrastructure—not just here at home, but globally—that allows us to see it quickly, isolate it quickly, respond to it quickly, so that if and when a new strain of flu like the Spanish flu crops up five years from now or a decade from now, we’ve made the investment and we’re further along to be able to catch it.”They sat up a White House Pandemic response team, which had clinics worldwide, including the area of China where Covid 19 originated. It managed the Ebola outbreak with only one American death. To help the incoming administration fight future pandemics, officials under President Obama prepared a 69-page playbook, written by Obama’s National Security Council, which detailed strategies for responding to a potential pandemic and briefed Trump’s top aides on the potential dangers of a pandemic. But the Trump administration ignored the playbook Instead, spending weeks downplaying the virus, which they knew about in late December, spouting rampant misinformation, contradicting their own medical advisors. They wasted nearly two months needed to bolster the federal stockpile of critically needed supplies. By then, it was too late.

There seems to be a lot of conspiracy theories on here today. I might as well add one, that one day may be proven to be the truth……

China couldn’t beat Trump at the Trade War bargaining table so they unleashed their virus on the world to unseat him.

There, that makes as much sense as much of what is above.

After reading through the comments by the lefties, its absolutely laughable and proven my point what an intolerant bunch of hateful bunch of humans the left actually are. Impeachment cannot come soon enough, and through my local office of elect, I’ll plan to use resources accordingly.

But after 4 years of hurling daily attacks and threats, the left says can’t we put our differences aside and work together.

The answer? An astounding NO. WE CANNOT.

If it’s California or many similar states, yes, I know exactly to blame. On the other hand, living in Idaho, I’ll be having Thanksgiving with my family again this year. Oh, in case the “karens” are upset, I see my children on a weekly basis and my grandchildren on a daily basis. You don’t like it? Too bad.

I suggest people look more closely at the statistics at www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/ and find the state-by-state analysis.

I’m grateful to live in the state that comes in as 45th in its deaths/million number. This in spite of our governor NOT shutting everything down this whole time and NOT banning Thanksgiving. Freedom rocks! And trusting people to use good judgment works much better than dictating their every move.

It is not the politicians at all. Anyone who thinks any politicians had the combination knowledge, intelligence and authority to make COVID go away has way too much faith in government and the people who fill its offices.

This morning the pastor mentioned the benefits of 2020: “And Thursday, you won’t have to spend all day with that weird uncle.”

“But I am and weird uncle,” I said softly.

We should be—I am—thankful for this innovative way of avoiding the dreaded family get-together! —Family members, cousin or more distant, whom I rarely see or speak to, with whom I have nothing in common to talk about. Pig’s a good guy!

Thank you Mr Pastis. No matter what side of the political debate one falls, it cannot be denied that all sides have weaponized the coved crisis. The point is, being thankful for being together not venting one’s spleen. As a wise person once said, “your opinion is like your backside. Everyone has one and just because you have one doesn’t mean we care to see it…” Happy Thanksgiving all and here’s hoping you all stay safe and whole.

Honestly, Pig’s response is the same as the kid who says “if it doesn’t go my way, i’m taking my ball and leaving”. Instead of just killing the sound so he doesn’t have to listen to Uncle Fred, he just ends it all for everyone.
