When I was young, a politician being Catholic was a real problem for a lot of people: What would the Prez do if the Pope ordered him to (whatever the speaker thought was awful)? Now, it seems not to be an issue… which I find to be better. I really have no problem at all with her beliefs, nor with the supposition that they would supersede her legal and constitutional training. UNLESS she were to be in a position to enforce them on all the rest of us, as she would be in as, say, a Supreme Court Justice.

Intelligence is not necessarily synonymous with wisdom. . . extremist views can skew interpretations.

Now that’s funny.. Imagine for a moment having a burqa or hijab dressed Muslim sit for nomination to the Supreme Court.. Freedom of religion in America.. sure, if it one of two..

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse has this story so very right. And also today’s opinion by Jamelle Bouie in the NYTs.

OMG . . . what if it was a Catholic Nun in a Habit instead of a person of the Muslim faith ? At least they wouldn’t be wearing WHITE after Labor Day !

With six catholics on the court, we will have too change the name. How about, “Saint Paul Holy Supreme Court”. Not very diverse.

The problem with SCB is that she is a strict Constitutionalist and does not recognize that times have changed , society has changed and the Constitution was never meant to be a one size fits all as evidenced by the Amendments.
