Most cats lose interest in mirrors by about 6 months of age. I did have one who tried to jump through a mirror into that other room at about 9 months old though. He was a bit of a slow learner.
I had a cat that loved to gaze at herself for hours in the mirror. There was nothing else in the room that she could be looking at in the mirror. She just sat on a dresser and looked in the mirror at herself.

All of the cats I’ve had seemed to be of the opinion that, “If you can’t smell it, it’s not there.”
