There’s a whole category of bleeding-heart types who make life hard for pretty much everybody… including themselves. Maybe Newsom had a great idea: Get a bunch of them together to “study” the “problem” and let them talk EACH OTHER to oblivion.
I think all the non-t rumper thumpers deserve reparations for the last four plus years. Especially the Obama and McCain families. And covid victims and families.
IMBECILE UPDATE: Now it’s reported that Trump didn’t disclose he had tested positive BEFORE appearing on FOX NEWS with Hannity for an interview. He announced that Hope Hicks had tested positive, but DID NOT DISCLOSE HE HAD ALSO ! This is type of person who some people want still to re-elect ? Who did the test and covered up the results ? How many people were infected ? Tell me he isn’t the worst President ever. Let’s hear FOX and FRIENDS put a spin on this. Fake News . . . .
Sr. Ramirez, when spewing your diatribe you might want to check your facts. Entering as a free state does not reclude the state of slavery prior to statehood. Which, guess what? wich included slavery.
When a national government fails to step up (indeed, when it issues an executive order forbidding any discussion of the roots of slavery in American culture and society), then what is the problem having a state step up?
I wish that the Mexican Repatriation of the early 1930s was taught in California schools, though.
California was not a ‘slave state’. However, it DID accept and honor the status of slaves when owners brought them there. In other words, it did allow slavery. Love your artwork beyond words, but read some history.
And the rest of the United States need reparations for the imbecilic majority of California voters who vote for imbeciles like Newsome, Pelosi, Feinstein, et al. For it is from California that most of the moronic ideas come from in this country.
There is a lot more to reparations than slavery. Black Americans have been abused and oppressed for centuries. They were denied property ownership granted to whites, as in the Oklahoma Land rush in 1889 (whites only need apply!), as well as being shut out of white neighborhoods by redlining (see slumlord Fred Trump, for example) and sometimes intimidation. They have been denied a path to grow their personal wealth or improve their educational or social status. For example, black Americans returning from WWII after defending this country were denied access to the GI bill. Even when blacks had to go around the system to create their own system of wealth accrual, they were shut down by local governments because of the fact that they were drawing business away from white owned businesses. The Tulsa riots that burned down the “black wall street” are just one example of violence targeting blacks seeking only to improve their lot. Most of my right wing friends back in Mississippi still believe that the reason a high percentage of blacks live in poverty is strictly a failure on their part, not because of the decades of denial, marginalization and oppression visited upon them.

My relatives arrived here from Poland (then under Imperial Russian control) at the turn of the century. They were escaping from the remnants of central European serfdom. Despite the sanitized version of the Russian abolition of serfdom, the reality was a brutal system that kept the serf tied to the land and to the aristocracy. The financial structure of reparations to the OWNERS, inflated prices for the worst plots of land and the massive taxation of the "lower classes) effectively prevented a meaningful “freedom”.
When they arrived here they were subjected to substantial prejudice and bigotry. Paid less than “Americans” for the same work, when they could get it. Isolated by society, forced into what were essentially ghettos and denied any sort of equal opportunity. Ridiculed and abused, sometimes even killed just because they were different.
While the descendants of black slaves were attending universities, learning trades and building businesses, my people were relegated to the lowest manual labor jobs. Forced to build and trade and interact within our own community it took many decades to break the barriers. My people were oppressed by America. By ALL of America. 100 years ago.

Hey Ramirez, here’s a fun fact; California is actually part of the United States. The United States has an imbecile for a president.

The country as a whole should do something to make up for the withholding of GI Bill loans, redlining, etc after ww2. Fair is fair.
