I watched the first part of the debate with the sound off and closed captions. It was not a favorable presentation for Trump, and Fareed Zakaria in the WashPost has explained why. The comparative visuals of Trump and Biden showed an intemperate bully with a scowl on his face across from a pleasantly smiling adult making direct eye contact with the viewers. The visuals carry a much greater impact than the audios, an effect that has been observed for a long time.

Trump’s performance didn’t win him any votes and probably lost him many. Let’s see how he handles the virus that doesn’t exist.
