The suspect is actively being sought. When this person is found they will be tried and most likely convicted. It was a cowardly and horrible crime…so was the killing of Tamir Rice, Treyvon Marton, Breonna Taylor, and the list goes on. The protest are happening because no one is being held accountable for these murders which allows them to go on with impunity. This person will be held accountable…ergo no protests.

Mr. Ramirez, Do you think that those who protested against police brutality are condoning this action? You are a petty man if you do.

There are a lot of bad people walking around with guns. A lot of them are stupid, few of them affiliate with BLM.

Protests aren’t necessary because there will be a thorough effort to hold the perpetrator accountable for their actions.

Until we know for sure just who was responsible, keep in mind that there is a 50-50 chance it was not done by someone on the left; it is increasingly clear that there are forces on the right trying to foment discord and racial disharmony. It is terrible, but it smells like it comes straight out of the Putin Playbook…

When LEOs are being systematically executed – often, and the perpetrators get away with it – often, there will be protests.

Count on the radical right to create false equivalencies between these shootings and those of unarmed blacks.

Pray tell exactly who/what is to be ‘protested’? The great likelihood is that the killer was a gang member whose street cred just shot up. Your silly, false-equivalency is typical of the critical thinking processes on the right. Street gangs are not government entities which protests from either side would affect in the least.

To show the hypocrisy of the main stream media, I went to USA Today online the next day and there was no link or mention of this event. Had a black man in the process of committing a crime been shot by the police, there would’ve been front page coverage and Hell to pay. Mr. Ramirez I’m sorry you have to endure so much hatred from the left but thank you for trying to keep the information scales balanced. There are MANY hateful cartoons to appease the other aide.

One man (Who knows what his ideology is?. Who knows who he is?) ambushed two police officers. He will be caught, charged and tried. The man who laughed about the shooting is, IMO, as numb and callous as the police who watched George Floyd dying and did nothing. We must elect a new president and administration. We need to end the daily havoc and chaos championed by this ship of fools.

Seems there have been lots of protest about too many guns.. in far too many irresponsible hands.. But the Republican 2nd amendment folk want nothing to do with it. You reap what you sow (Galatians 6:7-9) Add trumps encouragement.. and “this” is what you get. Enjoy!

Where are all those fine folk supporting the president’s incendiary speeches and tweets? Would peacefully protesting be too tame for them?

The “protests” for the two ambushed deputies will take the form of the all out manhunt by the police. Plus this incident could trigger further brutalizing of the citizenry by the less professional of the police.

People who shoot at police are criminals and they are given high priority and are hunted down.

Police who kill protesters are often excused.

My father the Berkeley policeman was angry at the NRA for allowing military weapons into the hands of civilians. These murderous weapons are often turned against the police. “Don’t they care about us?” he asked.

If the killer is identified and remains free or is found excuses for his crime then there would be a need for protests against an unfair treatment. If, in these circumstances, those protests do not happen, then you can publish this toon, Ramirez.Right now you have no cause.

Are you really saying that you don’t understand what protests are for? After all this time, you still don’t even grasp the basic purpose of a protest in the first place?

The protests are because people want the system to take BLM issues seriously and do something about it. Nobody needs to protest this shooting because we know 100% that the system will be pumping every resource possible into dealing with this horrible act. There is no risk of the police or the courts or any agency turning a blind eye to what happened.

If there are no protests about it, nobody must feel that they have no other recourse to correct a systemically unjust system.

Does the person who shot cops get qualified immunity to prevent them from being brought to justice?

Does this person have a large group of coworkers & a union willing to excuse & defend the shooting?

Does this person have lawmakers & media pundits suggesting the cops must’ve done something to deserve being shot?

Fortunately, the injured cops are recovering. They’ll receive honor & recognition from the County.

So, what sort of systemic injustice are we protesting?

Maybe if everybody didn’t have handguns and automatic weapons, crazies and criminals wouldn’t have easy access to them and the police wouldn’t be under any pressure to shoot.

Either Ramirez is an idiot, or he knows perfectly well that protests are what people who need attention to their problem do, and legal recourse, including police investigation is what happens when the situation can and should be handled through normal channels that already exist and work (pretty) well. That and go-fund-me pages, maybe.

    And Ramirez is no idiot.

Any violence is tragic, whether it’s perpetrated by a cop or against a cop. But there’s no systemic abuse of cops. There is systemic racism against minorities. That’s why there are no protests over this, but there are protests against racism.
