    If it wasn’t for the modern dialogue balloons, I’d accept this as the original with no questions. Fits right in with the “genteel” humor of the era. (Now my complaint. After reading the original, I’m now hungry for fritters with syrup. I’ll have to go through my mom’s recipe box and cookbooks I acquired when we “cleaned” my parents house after she passed away. I’m sure, or hope, the recipe is in there somewhere.)
