Well, for that matter, Charlie is supposed to be there for Snoopy too when Snoopy is feeling small and all alone in his dog house when he should be comfortably snuggled up in the people house.

Does Charlie comfort Snoopy? Does he? Huh?

As a Peanuts fan for yrs-on-end….Snoops has a mind of his own! Reminds me of my cat…lol. Every morning I get up and J.J. is in my computer chair, it’s a daily routine…lol. I have 2 GIANT, stuffed Snoopy and Woodstock. A mailbox w/ C.B. on it, box set,etc..you name it! Even the last strip Schultz made, before he died!

By the time Snoopy came into the picture it was too late, Charlie needs a psychologist, no dog can help him.

puppybreath, when this strip originally came out, dogs DID live in their doghouses, not in the people houses – dogs were dogs in those days…

how can you tell what year this originally ran? I can’t read the copyright. But I seem to remember reading this a long time ago.

And besides, the inside of Snoopy’s doghouse is far more luxurious than the inside of Charlie Brown’s house – or at least it was until the fire, but that’s years from now.

@Jado823 Well it is true that in many cases dogs were in outside doghouses instead of in the people’s homes. But I can tell you that in the case of my extended family they were members of the family and were included in almost everything, including living in the house.

By the way, at 75 years of age, I think I am older than the Peanuts strip. We were country people with all kinds of animals and livestock but the dogs were always our companions, friends and part of the family.

God bless my mom and dad for being the loving, compassionate people they were. I couldn’t have asked for better role models.

I think what Snoopy really meant to say in the 4th panel is “I’m not the one who can turn it on and keep it on 24/7.”
