He sure did give political cartoonists (on the left) a gift! But I’m getting kinda tired of this one. It keeps reminding me that he’s STILL “in charge” and STILL wreaking as much havoc as might make him feel better. :(

Trump said he lied because he didn’t want people (read: the stock market) to panic. Trump’s example: if a doctor sees a small dark spot on an X-ray he doesn’t go nuts and start shrieking about cancer. He stays calms, assures the patient that everything is under control and they’ll take care of it. It’s that last part where Trump’s analogy fails.

Yeah, the doctor does not go crazy, start screaming and panicking, etc. But he does take action. He does not say, “Don’t worry, just go home, and in a few days it will just go away by itself. It’s like a miracle. In a few days (or when the weather warms up) it will just go away” and then go golfing or watching Faux “News” for nine hours a day while doing NOTHING except deny, disregard and deflect.

The doctor does stay calm. He assures the patient that it could be nothing. But he does tell the patient that we will have a specimen taken and tested, and if the test shows a problem, we will intervene early and aggressively and prevent it from spreading.

So, in Trump’s analogy, they did nothing but stay home and ignore it, the spot turned into a carcinoma, metastasized throughout the body, and the patient (the economy, tens millions of jobs, hundreds of thousands of deaths) died.

Trump, the weatherman, wouldn’t warn the public of a Cat-5 hurricane heading for the coast because he wouldn’t want them to do something to save their lives…do I have that right?

He spreads fear like a pandemic but won’t address the actual pandemic.

The panic will set in on November 4th if he wins or maybe if he loses, if his followers have their way.

Fires burn themselves out eventually, so why do anything? Just ask California, Oregon, and Washington (state, not the city). After all, it’s worked so well with Covid, hasn’t it? Well? Hasn’t it? /s

If Trump wants to be a cheerleader for America, he needs to dress the part. The miniskirt, the pompoms, the whole regalia.

Trump had defunded the pandemic response team that Obama had in place in China just months before it was needed. If it had been doing it’s job, tracking the virus and stopping it in China, we wouldn’t have been faced with the pandemic that his advisors were telling him was coming. His response was to pretend that it was nothing. The media told us he was lying, so we knew it. Only those who believe Trump instead of the media didn’t—- and actually they know Trump is lying too. They just enjoy the fact that he annoys those &^$% liberals with his lies so much that they will risk their lives to support him.

Trump will avoid causing panic by not addressing a pandemic, a Presidential non-action resulting in:

    1) tens of thousands (70K self-identified on a web site, meaning very likely tens of K more not included because not informing this site of their condition) of “long haul” afflicted and over 190K dead, with ~ 1K continuing to die daily — health outcomes which the President and GOP identify as not much different from flu outcomes (although in reality ~ 5 times more extreme than flu outcomes) and therefore somehow sorta kinda acceptable

    2) an ongoing recession — more severe than the Bush 43/GOP Great Recession — approaching the Hoover/GOP Great Depression in severity and scope which, unlike extreme negative health/death outcomes, causes intense GOP worry and consternation.

Number 2 above is (like #1) a direct outcome of the failure of a Presidentially-directed direly insufficient national policy response to the pandemic.

So even though negative health/death outcomes are acceptable to the President and GOP but which they [correctly] recognize does not damage them overly with the US electorate (which I personally find both humanly loathsome and incomprehensible, both for the GOP attitude and the only slightly less than 50% of the public’s response to it), they appear to be unable to recognize their heartless health policy response to the pandemic causes similar harm to immediate and long-term economic viability outcomes as well. This absence of awareness and comprehension, in particular (regarding the GOP only!), is totally baffling to me.

Back to the Presidential pandemic response: Trump has demonstrated he nearly completely refuses to take mitigating pandemic action (‘I am not responsible for anything!’.

But not to worry. Should Trump receive a report of an active shooter inside a US school, he assures all and sundry that if he’s nearby he will charge in there and take on the shooter(s). Unarmed!

I believe he fired the physician we had in place at that exact lab (to watch over and prevent something like this from happening). He kept saying that Obama did not leave enough ventilators, etc. However, he did NOT know what to say when a reporter said to him – Sir, you have been in office for over 3 years – if they were low – why didn’t you order enough?
