This one’s from ten years ago, but has lost nothing of its relevance. And is it any surprise that comics are filled with mad scientists? I’d be pretty p*ssed, too.

That is why you can never deprogram a believer.

In 2020 the mob tears down science-hero with crazy accusations. ‘He was on Epstein island’. ‘He experimented with unproven vaccines on Indian children.’ ‘He wants to insert a microchip in your bloodstream.’

Tis true. I read about people who are heroically saved by medical personnel and then they go and thank God for their recovery.

This strip is very true: my friend who is fascinated by cosmology and astrophysics often mentions how much more awe he feels for God that He should create such an awesome universe.

It’s kind of sad that the God-niks can’t manage this kind of thought. “Evolution? Oh yeah, the method God used to create all the animals and stuff.” But they prefer to constrain the God they claim is omnipotent.

I’m nonreligious, but I recall a lesson from Sunday school that one ought not put God on the spot. “Don’t test God,” was the short of it. I guess a lot of folks didn’t show up for that.

There’s a meme floating around the interwebs that reads:

SCIENCEIt doesn’t [care]* what you believe

*I cleaned it up a bit in case there are kids hanging around here today. The last thing I need is a millstone hung around my neck.

Exactly. Every time I hear of good being done, when I look it’s always people. Thank you!

Of course, real scientists don’t try to compete with God… but they also don’t allow themselves to be blinded by superstition…

Is it any wonder Calvin advocated predestination?

All “god” believers have at minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Post Hoc Rationalization.

Advanced degree’s in this subject are so easy to obtain that a Master’s is held by over half, while probably at least a third of these believers have earned their Ph.D!

Superstitious nonsense vs a rational fact-based body of knowledge. The choice is easy.

I’m certain that something very much like the last panel will be happening in the near future. Except the adoring crowds will be wearing their MAGA hats.
