By the time of Red and Rover, I would have been flying black and white Saturn rockets. “Dad, do we have some black paint?”

that would be the Redstone rocket, which carried astronauts Alan Shepard and Gus Grissom to their suborbital excursions in 1961

Didn’t know it worked in reverse. Neither did Daffy Duck.

I miss the excitement and wonder of the space exploration years.

Perfect liftoff! All systems were well within nominal. Refuel and you’re clear to go in the next window.

The cameras never zoomed in on the capsule door. Someone might have had it open for one last relief before liftoff.

It’s nice to see Gemini-Titan getting some love! The only nit to pick is that the flames are too colorful; the Titan (“something”-zines) burned nearly invisibly. But I guess the movies have conditioned you to expect planet-shattering kabooms and phaser pew-pews in a vacuum, and visible rocket plumes.
