She should just stand on the porch and let Poncho go as far as he can in the yard. Do his business and she can pick it up after. No walking needed. She could slam the end of the leash in the door, watch TV for 15 min, then reel him in.

If they end up at the Pooch Cafe so he can use the washroom there, I will be most amused.

Ah yes, an all time favorite of mine, the retractable leash, I still remember a Pooch Cafe strip from many (like many-many) years ago where the old lady neighbour was dogsitting Poncho and walked him with the retractable leash, I still go and re-read that and kills me every time. I expect great things tomorrow.

So if someone hadn’t burned the regular leash the requirement for using this doggy butt bumper would not be a thing. Don’t you have any rope around?

    If you can’t handle a leash, don’t walk a dog……

The biggest problem with a retractable last is that when you meet someone they can get tangled in the leash. For those times i take the dog off the leash. Yes, she’s that well trained.

Perhaps the cats can take him for his walks.

Why is she apologizing to this obnoxious dog? She should just shove him into the back yard and leave him there.

The thing about the retractable leashes is that when the dog sees something chase-able and gets a good run on, the force of that sudden start will yank the leash right out of your hand or you right off your feet….

A little over 2 years ago I was walking my somewhat recently rescued dog, and I lost my grip on the retractable. She took office like a banshee, the leash clattering after her. After about a half mile she ran into some woods, and the hand grip part got snarled in some small trees about 50 feet off the road. She hadn’t barked even once since we got her, and didn’t make a sound that day either, but fortunately I thought to peer into the woods as I walked slowly by and spotted her. I haven’t used a retractable since then, but she has found her voice, and uses it to protect and warn us of danger, both real and imagined, on a regular basis.
