I think covid and the lack of leadership to fight it are worse than the riots. This is for the majority of the nation. I know the riots were terrible where they occurred. Covid more wide spread than riots. No I am not downplaying the riots.

COVID KILLS 180,000 Americans. Rioting kills fewer than a dozen. And Lisa Benson draws them both the same size. Nice false equivalency.

Welcome to Trump’s America:

A pandemic he couldn’t control (like so many other countries WERE able to control), civil unrest (after Trump poured gasoline everywhere and lit the match) and an economy in tatters.

Trump inherited a fortune from Daddy, and ran his businesses into the ground to the point of six of them going bankrupt, including a casino, where “the house always wins” (unless it’s the House of Trump), even when everyone around him was thriving.

Trump inherited from his predecessor a prosperous, thriving economy and a well-developed plan and resources to handle a pandemic. Like everything he inherits, Trump destroyed everything, let a pandemic that other countries handled successfully destroy our nation (and still in denial, as his “convention” superspreader event demonstrated), and allowed the economy to collapse into failure not seen since the Great Depression and, on some metrics, such as Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the real economy and not just the elitist investment markets, surpassing it.

By every measure, Trump is a failed catastrophe and, yes, it is the small businesses and the middle class that are squeezed and paying the price, as Trump and his cronies get rich feeding at the public trough.

^ We had Obama’s economy. The only part of the economy that’s growing now is jobs for mortuaries and presidential fact checkers.

What treason did Obama commit? What fraud did Obama commit? What high crimes and misdemeanors did Obama commit? What were Obama’s campaign finance violations which he committed to cover up yet another one of his serial affairs?

The doom and gloom has been going on since 2017 in both Blue and Red states. It’s just that the red states are too dumb to notice the true cause.

I’ll tell you what fantasy we’re not living in. We’re not living in the fantasy world where over 180,000 easily preventable deaths is totally fine and acceptable to us.

Interesting that Lisa thinks that only business owners count for anything in “America”. I guess that the rest of us are only good for use as paving material.

Both the astronomically high number of COVID-19 deaths and the escalation of violent protests can be traced right back to the guy in the Oval Office. The man loves chaos, both to feed his ego and to create a distraction from what he is really doing to our Constitution.

Too bad we don’t have a real leader in the White House, Lisa. Maybe it’s time to change that.

If cops were trained instead of given military equipment and a license to kill then it wouldn’t be a problem. Part of defunding police is giving them more training in dealing with these situation without being an executioner. The Kenosha killer being white was able to walk thru the cops without a problem. Puts paid to that stupid defense that whites aren’t treated differently.

Sol Lisa get thoise police and white nationalistss to stop rioting and all will be well.

PINO Trump’s inabilities to actually accomplish anything would be laughable if people weren’t dying economically and literally.

And just who is supposed to help the “small biz” guy, Ms. Benson? The occupant of the oval office seems to think one is just a hoax and the other some sort of deep-state plot against him personally. Remember Mr. “I take no responsibility?”

The ☠resident was gifted with a bull market, NOT a record recession as his predecessor was. We now have more debt than ever, … and any thought of fiscal responsibility eludes the current administration. Only businesses without a plan for surviving a recession (or a pandemic) are in trouble. Don’t worry the taxpayers will bail those businesses out.

Economists are less optimistic about what’s ahead for economic growth for the rest of the year, thanks to uncertainty about how the escalated U.S.-China trade war could impact business sentiment. The Atlanta Fed, for example, estimates Q2 GDP will come in at 1.3%, while JP Morgan says growth will be just 1% in the second quarter.

Wonder what America’s businesses would like with “Trump” on both gloves? Going down for the count in the first round? Nobody left in his corner and his trainer ready to throw in the towel? REAL SMALL business owners are the true backbone of the U.S. economy. However, Marco Ruubio and the rest of the Repubs were lobbied by the major restaurant owners and other large corporations to define small businesses as less than 500 employees per location so huge businesses got loans before actual small businesses because the big businesses have better financial and legal support. One example – why did Dr. Phil get $9 million when his show continued? He was making the same money with fewer employees and I question whether he continued to pay them.

The 2017 tax cuts resulted in businesses buying back their stock, just like the CEOs said they would do. This heated up the stock market to please Trump, but that is NOT the real economy. The REAL economy is supported by consumer spending, so PEOPLE should get more financial support. This was the same mistake with Bush’s TARP legislation because they gave the monmey to the banks rather than supporting the people who owned more on their mortgage than their house was worth.

The riots are being fed more by white supremacists and militia than by protestors. The RW is now busy trying to smear Kyle Rittenhouse’s victims rather than looking at why Kenosha police are encouraging vigilantes.

That’s right, Lisa. Riots have affected businesses in a handful of cities. The pandemic has affected businesses across the nation. Obviously, they are having an equal impact.

Riots are affecting a very small fraction of businesses compared to COVID-19. You should show a very tiny glove or admit to ridiculous hyperbole.

The Republicans stole all the PPP money.

There are 4,727 cities in the United States with populations greater than 5,000. Of these, four (or 8/100s of 1 percent) had any demonstrations that could be considered to include a riot. (Please note: I’ve not included police riots in these figures). Very, very few of the 30.2 million small businesses in the United States have been impacted. Ms. Benson, you’re doing the soiled work of Donald Trump who, in turn, is doing the work prescribed by Vladimir Putin. Please stop the bs and blatant propaganda. Most of the American people are neither as stupid nor as ill-informed as you believe them to be.

That’s how the owners of The Lotus restaurant are feeling these days.

The efforts of mostly anarchist and libertarian agitators to turn peaceful protests into late night riot action sometimes succeed. The number of businesses harmed is miniscule compared with the every day damage of Trump.

Yeah. This HAS been a tough year for small businesses (including their owners). Too bad the Feds haven’t done much to help w/ the Covid closures… but of course they’re focused on big  business (and rich people) to the exclusion of all else. As for the “riots”… yeah, that’s tough too. Though the right wing folks lie considerably about how violent the protests are. Still there is some  violence including quite a bit of window breaking type damage and dumpster fires. It’s too bad the protestors aren’t hearing about progress toward fixing the problems that have led the BLM movement to coalesce. Maybe after the election?

I remember back when we had a Federal government that paid for pandemic tasks forces, instead of cutting government agencies budgets in half, just for kicks and giggles. I also remember when the Federal government investigated police brutality and issued consent decrees to keep police in check. But under the current administration we see why things like that help biz owners, even if they require (gasp) taxes!

Again, good call Lisa . . . the apologists for BLM-BDS will do anything and say anything to dodge their responsibility for the chaos they’re so fond of.But, to be fair, the violence and riots are just boosting Trump’s ability to take the next election, so . . . . carry on all you " progressives " . . . you’re actually helping Trump. :-)
