This becomes more interesting over time. Plausible to win the nomination? Or Plausible to win the general election? Those two things move -sometimes toward each other, sometimes away.
No plausible, but plenty of PAUSEABLE ones coming forth. It really WOULD be nice to see more rational ones. I think of Mark Hatfield for example as a Republican with some intelligence, and courage, not always grasping for the lunatic fringe, but staying instead on solid ground.
Jon Stewart did a great segment on how pointless this all is by taking similar points in time before previous elections. The leading Democratic candidate at this point in 2004 (I think) was…Joe Leiberman.
^Wrong birth certificate. Did about as good as could be expected with what passes for government, here. The third house of the State Legislature is in control, those of us who bother to show up & vote on all those propositions, especially in off years. Then the courts throw out the half that’s unconstitutional, then we rewrite the constitution with more propositions. It’s always election season. Best ad campaign wins.

Ron Paul can’t get very far because he has a lot of beliefs that neither Democrats NOR Republicans like.

Because we now have cable news and we “need to know” or so “they” say.

They’ll find somebody. Maybe Christine O’ Donnell or Sharron Angle.

Ron Paul is a thoughtful, level headed man, therefore he doesn’t have a chance at the GOP nomination.
