Nice reference to “Marathon Man”. That movie reduced my tough buddy to Jell-o.

I had a dental cleaning and exam earlier this month. Dentist and hygienist both wearing face shields over their masks, and with huge heavy gowns. Same routine when I went to the endodontist later in the month for a checkup on some work he did last year. And of course, measuring my temperature and not letting me in until they were ready to go. The receptionist at the endodontist gave me a pen to fill out a form and told me to keep it. They were giving separate, previously unused pens to each patient.

You won’t get perfect safety, no matter what they do, but they’re doing their best. And doing their best to assure you that they’re doing their best. Decide for yourself whether you want to “risk” it.

I believe in both taking appropriate precautions while also getting out and living to the extent that it is feasible. Sometimes that means total lockdown for a time, sometimes that just means masks, sanitizer, and some distance. It’s yahoos who refuse to do even that little bit to keep themselves and others safe that mess it up for everyone.

No matter what my government mandates, I’ve been on lockdown since March. I don’t trust others to take precautions, so I leave the house, with a mask, only to get groceries, or gas for the car. And only doctor visits that can’t be postponed. Just the bare minimum of exposure that I can manage.

I guess I’m a bit of a ‘fatalist’, but I do consistently practice intelligent social distancing. Fortunately, I live where I’m pretty well isolated here in northernmost Maine. But then something like this happens…..a wedding in Millinocket, ME (150 miles south) has 65 guest at the venue and now nearly 90 (and counting) people have Covid-19 and one has died. For more info, you can google Millinocket Covid and get the details.

I wonder if sales of toothpaste went up or down since all this masking started.

Probably depends on the dentist. I’ve been a couple of times during the pandemic without an issue. My dentist has strict procedures in place.

Hey, I can see a second umbrella in the first panel. That means that the other table is too close.

Well, if walking outside without a mask endangers people, we’re all doomed anyway.
