Whenever I used to ask my dog is she was going to eat something, she would look at it and then eat it. I don’t think it ever occurred to her to give it to me to eat!

Always thought it was absurd for Americans to be critical of Chamberlain since we were up to Pearl Harbor unwilling to come to the defense of any country even our closest ally and would have done nothing in the Germans had marched into London and hanged the King. Eating a sandwich and fries in the park, being silently watched by a single gull. We threw a fry to the gull, who responded with several screeches, and soon we had about a dozen gulls surrounding us. Great communication.
