In my city adults have been paid big bucks for “art works” that would cause teachers to call in the headshrinkers if a kid turned them in as art projects.
The key may be to get enough people to say out loud, “That is so great” then people who otherwise may not have been impressed might look at it with the preconceived notion that it’s great and agree. I don’t know, just an idea.
Apparently, Calvin needs a beret. Perhaps in a few years he can get a green one. I hear they are quite sought after. Perhaps making sand tables would satisfy his inner artist.
I f a piece of crap like a duct taped banana could draw the price it did then any thing Calvin offered up should be taken seriously. Calvin’s defense of his submission shows he pulled out a piece of his soul to create his “Stegosaur In A Spaceship”. I will also add he is the most articulate little reprobate I have ever seen. Years ago I had each of my high school students read a paragraph from a 4-6 grade reading primer. They all struggled.
Wow. His vocabulary is off the charts. Bucolic (relating to the pleasant aspects of the countryside and country life)? Never even heard of that word. Gotta love Bill for helping us expand our own vocabularies. Do you think he looks up words or finds obscure synonyms to use in his strip, or that he actually knows the words and uses them in his everyday speech?

You’ll never get anyone to buy art that disgusts them…unless its a gift for an in-law or other worst enemy.

I like the bucolic, undigested if you please. And the silly clothes sort of come naturally.

Is the art any better if you know the creator did it as a scathing commentary on the lack of accountability?

Yes, yes, Calvin does have to wears clothes.

Art is all subjective; that’s the problem here. Art I may love is art you may hate and vice-versa.

So naturally, I had to run a search on “hole in the ground as art”. Got quite a few hits. Here’s one.

Hey, at least you got a passing grade on it. You didn’t even get a D which is bad, but not failing.
