Right. It just jumped right up off of your plate and summersalted into the air and into your glass of milk. With no help from you at all. Amazing!

“No, mommy, I don’t know how my lollipop got on the dog’s stomach.” “No, I did not put my skateboard on the roof, it wasn’t me.” “No, I did not put green food dye in the milk for St. Patrick’s day.” “No, I don’t know how my Barbie got in the garbage disposal.” “No, I don’t know how peanut butter got inside the DVD player.” “No, I did not put holes in the bed sheet for halloween.” “No, I didn’t do it, and I don’t know who did.”

I’ll bet the conductor elbowed Elizabeth so her sausage would fall in, just to create a little mischief. He looks too innocent!

You can tell the parents and grandmothers – they are looking, not concerned, but just looking – and remembering their OWN child/grand child saying the same thing to them. :D

Isn’t “sausage” a big word for Elizabeth (who’s too young to conjugate “fall”)? Wouldn’t she say “hot dog” instead?

We used to go by train in 1960s – Quincy, Il, Chicago, St. Paul, Eureka, Montana, Wenatchee, Wash. Would pack a case with sandwiches and be past North Dakota before needing to visit the dining car. Western Star – Empire Builder – the days we had rail service.

Teresa- we don’t have 1/10 the passenger service today we had in the 50s and 60s. Then, we had two or more trains Quincy to St. Louis. One can still get there, but now one would have to go by way of —-CHICAGO!

Comments on the Oriental Limited (NOT to be confused with the Orient express) and trip on the "Canadian) Winnipeg to Medicine Hat to follow———

There’s nothing wrong with hot dogs (or sausage) in milk unless a person keeps kosher.

Try not to waste your food. It is expensive to eat on the train.
