Ah, but you see, the “armed goon” is eminently necessary; he (or she) is part of the sideshow Trump is using to convince any leftover idiots, morons and imbeciles to cast a ballot for Trump in the upcoming election.
Well, without the leader buffoon there would be no armed goon; the doctors and nurses would have been thoroughly consulted; the contact tracers would have been early and effective. So, in a pandemic ditch the buffoon and let the pros get to work.
Needed for what purpose? He has never given a rat’s patootie for anybody but himself† so HIS purpose is simply to somehow retain power. And sending in the Storm Troopers does several things: It looks good to his base, it gives them training for during or after the election, and it punishes people he hates (one of his pleasures).
† He’s clearly very good at subverting people’s reasoning powers, somehow since otherwise intelligent people do sign up to work for him. Note, though, that this super-power has stopped working on bankers, which is why he has to roll over for Putin who is now financing his bankruptcies.
