    I’m just a bill

    Yes, I’m only a bill

And I’m sitting here on Capitol Hill

Well, it’s a long, long journey

    To the capital city

    It’s a long, long wait

    While I’m sitting in committee

But I know I’ll be a law someday

At least I hope and pray that I will

But today I’m still just a bill

Not only the Bill of Rights…

The entire Constitution is under assault by Trump and the Republicans*

    .

    Also:

    160,000 dead.

    And counting.

    .

    Thanks to The Messiah.

Because it is what it is, right?

And “I take no responsibility for ANY of it!”

    Humm…

For a while, I had forgotten about the police propensity to use paid informants and possible entrapment.

The NYPD embedded at least one undercover informant among protesters demonstrating against police violence in the wake of George Floyd’s death, a newly unsealed court filing reveals.

The disclosure was buried in an FBI affidavit in the case of Jeremy Trapp, 24, who was arrested by the NYPD on July 17, after he allegedly attempted to cut the brake lines on an NYPD van parked in Brooklyn.

At the time of Trapp’s arrest, authorities said only that cops apprehended him as he emerged from underneath a marked police van.

But the affidavit unsealed in Brooklyn federal court this week shows that Trapp had in fact been the subject of a days-long surveillance operation, initiated by a confidential informant being paid by the NYPD.

The filing sheds new light on the often controversial tactics that police are using to monitor protests organized after the May 25 killing of Floyd, an unarmed Black man, by a Minneapolis cop.

An analysis by the Brennan Center for Justice at the NYU School of Law found “solid evidence” that departments have infiltrated the nationwide demonstrations—something it says can only serve to further harm the already-damaged relationship between the police and the citizenry.

In North Dakota, an officer posed as a protester while taking pictures of activists and yelling, “F’ the police.” In New Jersey, undercover cops dressed up as Hasidic Jews to observe a rally against racism and police brutality.

And in Texas, plainclothes officers have been circulating at protests “to identify criminals.” Protesters have been mostly peaceful, with white supremacists and “opportunists” being largely blamed for any violence that has erupted.

Time to get the popcorn popping?

But in a court filing this week, prosecutors with the district attorney’s office cited “public reports of possibly extensive and protracted criminal conduct at the Trump Organization” and suggested that they were also investigating possible crimes involving bank and insurance fraud.

Because of its longstanding and multifaceted relationship with Mr. Trump, Deutsche Bank has been a frequent target of regulators and lawmakers digging into the president’s opaque finances.

But the subpoena from the office of the district attorney, Cyrus R. Vance Jr., appears to be the first instance of a criminal inquiry involving Mr. Trump and his dealings with the German bank, which lent him and his company more than $2 billion over the past two decades.

Deutsche Bank complied with the subpoena.

Over a period of months last year, it provided Mr. Vance’s office with detailed records, including financial statements and other materials that Mr. Trump had provided to the bank as he sought loans, according to two of the people familiar with the inquiry.

But while the subpoena of Deutsche Bank indicates the breadth of Mr. Vance’s investigation, his inquiry is still at an early stage, a person briefed on the matter said.

It was ONE PERSON. The 2 cops were clearly marked as cops. They didn’t Mirandize him on the street because they didn’t want to be surrounded or otherwise interred with.

    GET OVER IT!
