I’m thinking the cat food is causing the nausea and making it harder to stomach? Or is that meant to decrease the effect of the nausea and make it easier to stomach? Hmmm.

^ cat food is actually more expensive… just saying.

Wow, I even tried to simply tell a joke and even that gets an argument… gees.

And is this a new or faux Radish or did you change your ID? And why add sock puppet if you did?

And now to an actual argument. No offense SP… I’d rather my gov’t spend on military to better ensure our protection… especially since it’s their prime responsibility and one of the few things it’s best at. Now, with that said, I think there are some areas where we can make some minor streamlining to the military and am not wholly against figuring out just how without doing greater damage to defense.

I’m not sure just how much money could be saved, but I think it’s fair to touch the military’s funding as well, along with everything else.

We shouldn’t be spending 3x for a private citizen to do the same job our military’s honorable men and women could be doing, for one.

Why aren’t we looking at “waste” there? Why is it only the vulnerable that have to suffer. If we don’t do something, all the military will be doing is protecting the 400 people left able to afford anything.

We can’t just look at Medicare. And we shouldn’t just herd people over to the predatory ways of private insurance.

    — And yes, cat food is actually expensive.

A question re: the military budget : Why do we have to pay out 10 times as much as any other country to get a defense capability that’s only twice or three times as good? Seems like Haliburton, KBR and Xi are charging too much for what we’re getting. Where are all those Republican MBA whizzes who’ll demand maximum value for the dollars spent? Oh yeah, they’re all lobbyists for the Defense contractors.

Dog food beats cat food, taste and price. A Xi agent makes more like TEN TIMES the equivalent enlisted Marine with the same job, which is why so many spec war folks get out of the military (trained) and go to work there. Prince also gets paid to TRAIN them while they’re in the service. What a guy!

He’s like KBR (Cheney) with a gun instead of a shower head.

Why should the US spend more on the military than all other countries combined? If the military is “…one of the few things it’s best at.”, why are we still in Afghanistan ten years later? Why Iraq? Why Grenada? Why did we turn tail in Lebanon?

Mdavis, there was no need to speak out against Medicare cuts back then. First, they were offset by other factors. Second, there were plenty of very vocal Republicans doing all the speaking-out that was necessary.

The very same Republican hypocrites who are now praising even larger cuts.

The cat food reference goes back 40 or 50 years, when some of the elderly were actually eating cat food, because they couldn’t afford … um … human food. I would imagine that cat food was much less expensive then than now.

I think the underlying problem here is that America’s left-wing thinks that Medicare and other safety nets are things that any civilized nation should have… unfortunately, America is not civilized in the slightest.

We have merely changed from the rootinest-tootinest shoot ‘em up Wild West to an economic Wild West where only the ruthless will survive.

I understand why rich Repugs like what Ryan is trying to do but, I don’t understand the middle and working class who will be screwed with this transfer of wealth from those who need it to those who don’t. Oh, I get it they think they’ll be that rich guy one day. Sweet dreams, you poor slobs.

frenchie- It’s b-o-l-o-g-n-a, and the fact is, inspections may indeed be stricter for my cat’s food, and Boomer’s. But, remember, humans don’t use their tongues for toilet paper. (well, there are a few contortionists?)

why don’t we consider cutting spending for 400 million dollar jet engines that are not needed because the fighter jet they go on was cancelled?

oh, yeah, i forgot, because they build those jet engines in the speaker’s district.
