Our dog loved when we would have baked potatoes for dinner, because I always seemed to have one leftover for her. Special treat time, after our dinner.

Now that they’ve given him food, he’s going to be their best friend.

Seriously, doesn NO ONE understand the basic safety rule being violated here? You NEVER run from a predator. Even a strange dog. They will chase you and try to bring you down (and very likely succeed). This is instinct for them.

Bribing a wild animal with food can distract them, but you can’t count on it. Granted, it doesn’t alway happen, the poor critter may be too full from a recent meal, it may be injured, it may simply be surprised by your presence, but – OK, I grew up in rural areas, this was a BIG deal when you live surrounded by wildlife. I could be overreacting.
